Natal Chart
Foundation
- Fixed for life
- Innate foundation
- Starting point of reading
In brief
The Four Pillars of the moment you were born — the fixed ground of who you are, unchanging for life.
What is the Natal Chart?
The natal chart (原局, also 本命) is the four pillars cast in stems and branches from your birth year, month, day, and hour. Unlike the luck cycles that flow — the ten-year Luck Pillars, the annual and monthly luck — it is the innate vessel that never changes. A Bazi reading first reads the element distribution, structure, strength, and Useful God from the natal chart, then adds the flow of time on top. Because the same luck acts differently depending on the natal chart, the chart is the starting point of every reading.
How to read it
Read the natal chart before the luck — you must know the vessel before you can see the flow.
