The Ten Gods of Bazi (十神)

The Ten Gods are the ten relationships every other character in your chart forms with the Day Master (你, yourself). They fall into five families — Companion, Output, Wealth, Authority, and Resource — and within each family, the star of the same polarity is the “indirect” (偏) type, the opposite polarity the “direct” (正) type.

Companion (比劫) · the same energy as you

比肩Friend
The star that stands shoulder to shoulder with you — the mark of selfhood and independence.
劫財Rob Wealth
The energy of drive and rivalry — a two-sided star that both allies and competes.

Output (食傷) · what you produce

食神Eating God
The energy of easeful expression and giving — the star of a well-fed life and of production.
傷官Hurting Officer
The energy of talent and expression bursting forth — the mark of mold-breaking creativity.

Wealth (財星) · what you control

正財Direct Wealth
The energy of stable wealth built through honest effort.
偏財Indirect Wealth
The energy of active wealth — earning big and spending big.

Authority (官星) · what controls you

正官Direct Officer
The upright mark of officialdom, valuing rules and responsibility.
偏官Seven Killings
The energy of strong authority and decisiveness — also called the Seven Killings (七殺).

Resource (印星) · what nurtures you

正印Direct Resource
The energy that nurtures you through learning and the goodwill of others.
偏印Indirect Resource
The energy of intuition and originality — the mark of cultivating unconventional expertise.
