Ming Tang (bright court)

Ming Tang properly means the level opening in front of the point, inside the embrace of the guardian hills, where qi pools. The near opening is the inner court, the broad plain beyond the facing hill the outer court. In everyday Korean the word came to mean 'a good site' in general, but in the form school it is a specific landform term: the open space in front. Whether the frontage is open rather than blocked shows up indirectly in a MYEONG form scan through the character of the features ahead.
